چکیده

Our life is completely dependent on a reliable and adequate supply of energy. In other to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, the use of animal dung in producing a renewable alternative source of energy has been proved using cow dung. This work is aimed at produced and refined bio gas from animal dung by reduces the H2S and CO2 content of bio gas in other to improved the quality of the bio gas to be used as an alternative to the petroleum based produces in use now. The sample of gas produced was passed through the gas chromatography to determine the percentage composition (mol % dry basis) of the bio gas contents. The results of the bio gas before refinement were 54.09% mole dry CH4, 40.02mole % dry CO2 and 0.80mole % dry H2S which conformed with the literature values of 50 65 % mole dry CH4, 35 50 % mole dry CO2 and 0.1 1.0 % mole dry H2S. After refining, the composition of bio gas on dry basis were 54.09% mole dry CH4, 4.01% mole dry CO2, 0.02% mole dry O2, 0.05% mole dry NH3, 0.01% mole dry H2S, 0.5% mole dry H2 and 2.54% mole dry N2. Analysis of the remnant indicated that it could be used for plant nutrient.

Development and operation of an integrated bio-SNG system Non-confidential version

The substitution of natural gas by a renewable equivalent is an interesting option to reduce the use of fossil fuels and the accompanying greenhouse gas emissions, as well as from the point of view of security of supply. The renewable alternative for natural gas is the so-called green natural gas, i.e. gaseous energy carriers produced from biomass comprising both biogas and Synthetic Natural Ga...

Estimation and Modeling of Biogas Production in Rural Small Landfills (Case Study: Chaharmahaal and Bakhtiari and Yazd Rural Areas)

One of the main factors contributing to greenhouse gas emissions in the environment is the production of pollutant gases in landfills. Collecting the landfill gases (LFG) effectively reduces the emission of gasses from the landfill site. A precise collection system for LFG can create the potential for energy generation in addition to emissions reduction. However, in Iran, the implementation of ...

Modeling and Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide from Biogas Produced by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion can be used to convert organic waste into energy not only to provide renewable energy, but also reduce greenhouse gases. During the anaerobic digestion process, biogas is produced, which can be used for heating and electricity generation. The produced biogas contains methane and some other gases, the most destructive of which is hydrogen sulfide gas. If hydrogen sulfide gas ...

Biogas and Liquid Biofuels

Biomass residues can also be converted into various non-solid fuel forms. These fuels are referred to as biogas and liquid biofuels. The aim of this conversion process is to improve the quality, specific energy content, transportability, etc., of the raw biomass source or to capture gases which are naturally produced as biomass is micro biologically degraded or when biomass is partially combust...
